Distinctive Shades and Shutters Makes Window Dressings Delectable

While many people may not think twice about window treatments, Roy and Eileen Miller of Distinctive Shades and Shutters, 124 N. First St. in Guthrie, have a passion for making windows wonderful.

Specializing in window treatments, Distinctive Shades and Shutters provides more than just curtains, shades or shutters; they create a look that’s both beautiful and functional.

“We do indoor and outdoor window coverings that include shades and shutters of all kinds,” Eileen says. “I have been in the window covering business for more than 30 years. In the early 1990s, we took on the Recollections Antique Mall in Guthrie and combined our love of antiques with the window treatment business.”

Window treatments, Eileen says, complete the look of a home.

“Our catch phrase is ‘Covering the windows of the world one window at a time.’ Not only do window treatments complete a look and become aesthetically pleasing, but they also control the light, heat and elements,” she says. “Window treatments are wonderful insulation for an indoor space.”

While Distinctive Shades and Shutters specializes in “looking at the overall picture” of a home, they also offer the newest trends in home window design. Transitional shades, for instance, are a new way to mix blinds and shades, giving homeowners greater privacy and light control.

“Motorization is becoming a big deal, too,” Eileen says. “Cordless window treatments are big because of child safety, but any motorization is also a new trend.”

In addition to indoor treatments, Distinctive Shades also specializes in outdoor shutters and outdoor spaces with awnings, motorized sunshades and aluminum shutters.

“It is amazing how many choices there can be,” she says. “We can design according to taste and style of any home.”
